| A Message from the
President |
Hey folks, the end of the year is coming and its time to start
getting excited about the Holiday party. This year it will be
held in the lobby of 2500 Citywest Blvd., Houston, Texas 77042 on
Saturday, December 4th. We will meet at 6pm and eat at
6:30pm. This is a high rise office building where my Houston
office is located and they were kind enough to let us use their
lobby with the tables and chairs for the event.
There is plenty of covered parking in the attached garage so don't
be afraid to bring the Birds. The cost for the event will be
$15 per person - invitations with return envelopes were sent out on
the 9th of November. Please RSVP on or before November
26th so that we can order the food. As usual we will be having
a gift exchange.
This year we are adding a charitable event for the Gordon
School. We will be collecting cash contributions for those
members who care to contribute to assist them with some necessities
for the children. In addition the club has voted to expend
$200 to help the nurse at the school with some purchases.
In the Holiday mail out is the proposed slate of directors and
officers for 2005. As of this time there are no contested
positions so there will be no ballot unless there are nominations
from the floor. Many thanks to those who stepped up and
volunteered to take the helm of the club for next year:
President Bill McBride, VP Steve Rubin, Treasurer Wyndham Smith, and
Secretary Al Eisenberg. Directors listed are Marc Markel
(immediate past president), Dave Barnes, Jerry Estes, Hugh Jackson,
and Bill Perry.
Keep drivin'

| Christmas Party |
Can you believe that the holidays
are upon us? Well, get ready, because they are here. Our
annual Holiday Party is Saturday night, December 4, 2004. We
will meet at 6pm, and eat at 6:30pm. We moved the party to
Saturday night to make it easier to get there a little
earlier. The party will be held in the lobby of Marc's office
building, at 2500 CityWest Blvd, two blocks west of the Sam Houston
Tollway at Westheimer. You should have received an invitation,
with a return envelope. You must RSVP and pay for your dinner
in advance. Deadline for the RSVP is November 26. If you don't
have or didn't get a return envelope, call Liz Tucker at
713/840-1666 or email her at ltucker@rmgattorneys.com and she can
fix you up. If you don't pay in advance,
you don't eat. The Club will provide setups and soft drinks,
but BYOB is you want something stronger.
One of our favorite things all year is the gift
exchange. Be sure that each person in your party brings a
wrapped gift valued near $15 for the gift exchange. Mark it
Male, Female, or Michael Jackson (Either).

The November meeting was canceled due to the proximity to Thanksgiving and
our upcoming Christmas party on December 4. Let's have a big
turnout for our annual Holiday Party, which is always a good

A
young man named Greg received a parrot as a gift. The parrot
had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of
the bird's
mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity.
Greg
tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying
only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could
think of to "clean up" the bird's vocabulary.
Finally, Greg was fed up and he yelled at
the parrot. The parrot yelled back. Greg shook the parrot and the
parrot got angrier and even ruder. Greg, in desperation, threw up
his hands, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few
minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed.
Then
suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a
minute. Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, Greg quickly opened the door
to the freezer.
The
parrot calmly stepped out onto Greg's outstretched arms and said "I
believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions.
I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I
fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and
unforgivable behavior."
Greg
was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. As he was about to
ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior,
the bird continued, "May I ask what the turkey did?"
Happy
Thanksgiving!!! | |
