Here's Bob Vickers unloading his "new"
tractor off Dennis' car hauling trailer. Why did they put the
ramps down when Bob just drove it off the side? |

| A
Message from the President |
It is now August and I have
just 4 months left in my term of office. There are still
many upcoming events including the Kolache festival for which we
need a good count of who is going to attend and the Poker run which
will be in October. I have been collecting some
mighty fine prizes for the event which should be a great road event
as well as some competitive eating. At this
month's meeting we will once again discuss the Holiday
party and the remaining events for the year. It is
also time to throw your name in the hat to serve this organization
in a board or officer capacity. Please come to the
meeting with an empty stomach and a head full of ideas and
don't forget it doesn't hurt to volunteer to set up an event or
assume a position with the Club.
Keep drivin'

| July Meeting |
The July meeting was held at Johnny Carinos Restaurant
in Pearland. Their food was very good, and the service was
excellent. 18 people attended. We discussed the Moulton
Jamboree, the Hallettsville Kolache Fest, the upcoming Poker Run,
and the Holiday Party. We still need some prizes for the Poker
Run, although Marc has gathered some great ones already. We
also need 5 people to hand out cards. And we're looking for
officers and directors to serve in 2005. There was $11 in the
50/50, and I won it!! |

| Moulton Days
Jamboree |
The Moulton Jamboree was outstanding, as
usual. Geary Ashby, Bill McBride, and I joined the far west
Houston Bird Brothers of Dennis Baetz and Bob Vickers in the very
important job of carrying the Pie Judges in the parade. Dennis
also had judges in his 59 Ford pickup, driven by a neighbor of
his. Our cars were a hit, as always. As I may have
mentioned previously, not only was I a driver of the pie judges, I
AM a pie judge. This was my third year, and it just keeps
getting better and better. The first year, I had to judge 54
pies, baked by the junior girls (women under 18 years old). As
with anything, you have to pay your dues, and some of those pies
were not too tasty. In fact, I had to spit out 3 bites.
Last year, I had women bakers 19-35 years of age and 32 pies to
taste. Only 1 pie had to be spit out. This year, I moved
into the 50-65 year old pie bakers, and we had 21 pies to
taste. There was only 1 pie that I did not care for, but the
other 2 judges liked it. Next year, I'm hoping to hit pay
dirt--pie bakers over 65 years of age. I am certain that they
will know how to bake a good pie. Of course, all of this is
for a good cause--scholarship money for the local high school
kids. I haven't heard the final count on the pie auction, but
last year they raised over $15,000 for the kids.
While I was eating pies, my fellow car drivers were chowing on
fried chicken and all the fixin's. After I hooked back up with
the gang, we toured the tractor exhibit and the car show. It
was blazing hot, but a good time was had by
all. |

An
airplane was about to crash. There were 5 passengers on board,
but only 4 parachutes. The first passenger said, "I am Kobe
Bryant, the best NBA basketball player; the Lakers need me, I
can't afford to die" So he took the first pack and left the
plane. The second passenger, Hillary Clinton said, "I am the
wife of the former U.S. President, a Senator from New York, and a
potential future president. And I am the smartest women in American
history, so America's people don't want me to die." She took the
second pack and jumped out of the plane.
The third passenger, Wesley Clark, said, "I'm a General in the
Army of the United States of America". I was also going to be my
party's nominee for President. So he grabbed the pack next to him
and jumped.
The fourth passenger, President George W Bush,
said to the fifth passenger, a 10-year-old schoolgirl, "I have
lived a full life, and served my country well, I will sacrifice
my life and let you have the last parachute.
The girl said, "That's okay. There's a parachute left for you.
America's smartest woman took my schoolbag." | |
