 Tech Tip from Bob Vickers

Dual purpose top carrier.  Put that hard top to good use during these hot summer months.  Your rear glass now becomes your wind shield and you don't have to be looking for a place to put that darn thing. Dennis is really under there, it's his day to drive.

In this month's issue:

Happy Summer!

A Message from the President

The second annual Fathers Day Meeting (June CTOH monthly meeting) was held at the home of Nancy and Wyndham Smith, who provided delicious barbeque and fixings, with members supplying appetizers and desserts.  About thirty people attended. It was good to see Jenny and Dave Barnes again.  50/50 won by Marilynn Eisenberg and the battery donated by Jerry Estes was won by Cleo Bickford.   Thanks again to Nancy and Wyndham Smith for hosting our Fathers Day Meeting.

Bill and Millie Burt participated in the Hooters Poker Run, June 11.  There were lots of corvettes participating and plenty of friendly banter between Bill and Millie and the Vette owners.

There will be a Poker Run, Saturday, October 1, with a rain date early November. More information to follow. Al Richmond discussed the Big Bird Cruise sometime in November.  A visit to the O'Quinn Museum is being considered.  Jerry Estes will firm up reservations for the Holiday Party in Old Town Spring to be held on Saturday December 3, 2005.

May you have fair winds and following seas,

Diesel Bill

June Meeting
The June meeting was held on Sunday, June 19, 2005, at the home of Wyndham and Nancy Smith.  Wyndham fired up his smoker, and it was tasty!  Thanks to the Smiths for opening their home to use crazy TBirders.

July Meeting
The May meeting will be held at the Noah's Ark Grill in Bacliff on Sunday, July 17, 2005.  Noah's phone number is 281-339-2895.  Take I-45 south, exit 646, and go all the way to the water at Bacliff.  Turn left at the water and it's approximately 100 feet, next to Clifton by the Sea.  We have the upper deck reserved for 1:00 PM for dining with a bay view.  The meeting will start at 2:00pm.  Don't miss this fun event.

Moulton Jamboree
OK, people, this is it--the event we've all been waiting for.  It's time to head for Moulton and carry those proud pie judges.  The big date is Sunday, July 31.  We have to line up by 10am.  As many of you regular readers know, I serve double duty--driving the judges and then judging the pies.  It's tough work, but someone has to do it.  I've been practicing, and have gained 6 pounds.  Gig 'em.

If you want to drive out to Moulton, let Hugh or Dennis Baetz know immediately.  Dennis is putting together the drivers, and he needs to know who he can count on.  Email Dennis at dbaetz@gvec.net or call him at 361-596-4657.  Or just respond to this emailed newsletter, and let me know.

An elderly gentleman of 83 arrived in Paris by plane. At the French customs desk, the man took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry-on bag. "You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked, sarcastically.  The old man admitted he had been to France previously. "Then you should know enough to have your passport ready." The American said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it." "Impossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France!" The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained. "Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find any Frenchmen to show it to."
