Here's Bob & Alice Vickers in front
of our favorite motel in Vega, Texas. A recent trip took them
along this portion of Rt. 66 in the Texas panhandle. |

| A
Message from the President |
Well for those of you who missed
our May event, you missed out on a good one. We had
about 20 members and guests who braved the hot weather and made
their way to Round Top to visit the Sterling McCall Auto
Museum. They had a fine collection of cars and one yellow
Thunderbird. Seriously they had some very fine cars and those
who did not make the trip should consider it in the
future. After the museum we engaged in some competitive
eating (at a local Round Top eatery) and then had our meeting in the
square at Round Top. Too bad Geary Ashby was not there in that
a couple of motorcycle type groups (gangs) shared our luncheon spot
and a Studebaker Club tried to creep up on us at the
museum. It would have been a perfect opportunity for a
rumble.
Lets all give a welcome home to
long time member and friend Dave Barnes who has finally been
released from the hospital. He is continuing his recuperation
at home. Lets continue to keep him in your thoughts and
prayers.
This month we have the Smiths to
thank for letting us invade their home for the June meeting which by
the way is father's day. Dust off the T-Bird, load it with
passengers and come to the Smiths home for lunch and the
meeting. We will be deciding several important issues for the
balance of the year so come on by or don't complain. I have
about six months to go in my term of office and have many events
planned.
Keep drivin'

| May
Meeting |
The May meeting was held during the trip to Sterling McCall's
Car Museum near Round Top. I was unable to attend, but I
understand there was a big crowd there, and all had fun. Come
to the June meeting for details! |

| June Meeting |
|
The June meeting will be held on Sunday, June 20, Father's
Day. We'll meet at the home of Wyndham & Nancy
Smith for some Smith-smoked food. They live just off the
Katy Freeway at the Silber exit. If you are outbound on the
Katy Freeway, exit Silber (first exit outside Loop 610), and turn
left. At the first street, Kenilworth, take another left, and
the Smith's live at 9121 Kenilworth. Their phone number is
713-686-4815 if you get lost. If you attended last year's
meeting, you'll remember that it was wonderful. We will eat at 1pm, and
meet at 2pm. Hope to see you there. So as not to stiff the Smith's with the cost
of the food, the Club will charge $10 per person at the door.
Let Marc's secretary Liz Tucker, at ltucker@rmgattorneys.com
or 713-840-1666, know if you
are planning on attending. |

Barnes |
| Dave & Jenny Barnes send
a big thank you to the Club for all the prayers, thoughts, and
visits during his recent illness. He is finally back home, and
feeling much better. |

| Moulton Days
Jamboree |
Hi,
folks. The Moulton Days Jamboree is coming up at the end of
July, the last full weekend as a mater of fact. I’m inviting the
club to be in the parade as we are taking the PIE contest Judges as
we have done in the past. We are one of the first in the parade and
drop the judges off where they do they’re hard work of tasting all
THAT pie. Hugh Jackson knows as he is a Judge. The
contest raised over $16,000.00 last year for
scholarships.
If you are interested in driving other
pie judges in the parade, please let Dennis know ASAP so he can get
you registered.
I would like for you
all to make plans to come out on Saturday morning to the Vickers'
home as they have offered there fine country place close to
Hallettsville to have a Bar-B-Q and a day of fun and kicking tires
and some country roads to drive. I’m sure we can find something to
do for that good ole Saturday night, maybe the drive inn move. For a
place to sleep I’m checking the no-tell motels around Hallettsville
area where Bob and Alice live. It will be on July 24 & 25. The
parade is on Sunday at 11:00 AM. So if you’re
interested at this early date let me know. dbaetz@gvec.net or
361-596-4657. For more information, see www.moultontexas.com.
See Ya Dennis & Duckie |

| Hallettsville Kolache
Festival |

LOOKIN' for something to do in September? The third
Saturday in September (the 18th) is the KOLACHEFEST in
Hallettsville. There will be a parade, car show, and a lot of
country doins. You may also do the drive-in movie located between
Hallettsville & Shiner. Let me know if you would like to
do this and I will make the arrangements. Alice and I can
accommodate 4 couples or singles and the rest can pitch tents, stay
in motels or whatever. Just let me know what you would like to
do. Bob Vickers |

A man appears before St. Peter at the Pearly
Gates.
"Have you ever done anything of particular merit?" St.
Peter asks.
"Well, I can think of one thing," the man offers.
"On a trip to the Black Hills, out in South Dakota, I came upon a
gang of bikers who were threatening a young woman. I directed them
to leave her alone, but they wouldn't listen. So I
approached the largest and most heavily tattooed biker. I smacked
him on the head, kicked his bike over, ripped out his nose ring,
threw it on the ground, and told him, 'Leave her alone now or
you'll answer to me, you hear?!'"
St. Peter was impressed.
"When did this happen?" "Just a couple of
minutes ago." | |
