February 2005
Volume 13, Issue 2

This is not what you want to see on your Bird--blown air bags.  Of course, on our little Birds, we don't have to worry about this, now do we?

In this month's issue:

Happy Valentine's Day!

A Message from the President
What type of bird are you?  What type of bird do you want to be?

I have pondered on the state of bird feathers for the last few days and have listed a few (I know the list is far from complete) types of CTOH membership behavior.

Sleeping Birds, Breakfast Birds, Cruisers, Monthly Meeting Members, Christmas Party Animals, Old Birds, Young Birds

For myself, I am a Cruiser, Monthly Meeting Member, Christmas Party Animal, sometimes a Breakfast Bird and rapidly becoming an Old Bird.

What do I want to be?  Well, a Young Bird would be nice but the physical aspect of achieving that objective is out of my control.  I can be young at heart. One way to stay that way is to participate in more young at heart activities, such as cruises.  My wife, Sharon, claims I am growing old, not up - is that a testament to being young at heart?  Last year, I participated in the Cruise to LaGrange, the Blue Bonnet Cruise, the Moulton Day Parade, the Hallettsville Kolache Festival and the Poker Run.  My goal this year is to attend at least one more cruise this year than I did last year. The next cruise will be to Nacogdoches in March – I plan to make that trip.  In the past, members generally commented on the number of cars of color versus the white cars – the white ones generally being the majority (my car, Marilyn, is a white ’55).  Lately, the distinction is between the Classic versus New Birds with the New Birds gaining ground in numbers (and colors) rapidly.

What type of bird are you?  Let me know.  Join us at the every Saturday morning breakfast meeting, our cruises short or long, CTOH Monthly Meetings or, for sure, the annual Christmas party.

See you at our monthly meeting on Sunday, February 20.

May you have fair winds and following seas (or at least keep her between the ditches)

Bill

January Meeting
The January meeting was held on Sunday, January 16, 2005, at Skeeters Restaurant.  We had a nice turnout, and the meeting went smoothly for our new prez, Diesel Bill McBride.  He is very organized, and has big things planned for us this year.  Bring it on!

March Event with the Big D Little Birds
Thanks to Margie Perry for the following information.  The Big D Little Birds are moving their spring event from Salado to Nacogdoches.  It will be held during the weekend of March 11 and 12, 2005 at the Fredonia Hotel & Convention Center, 200 N Fredonia, in Nacogdoches.  Their number is 1- 800- 594-5323 so you can make reservations.  Plan to attend and make your room reservations now!!!!  The Thunderbird Club Rate is $69.00 plus tax.

There will be a Hospitality Room open in the afternoons with drinks and snacks.  Breakfast will be on our own and it is planned to have a group dinner at the hotel Saturday night.

Tail Lights
A city boy, Kenny, moved to the country and bought a donkey from an old farmer for $100.00. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day. The next day the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry, son, but I have-----some bad news -- the donkey died." Kenny replied, "Well then, just give me my money back." The farmer said, "Can't do that. I went and spent it already." Kenny said, "OK then, just unload the donkey." The farmer asked, "What ya gonna do with him?"

Kenny said, "I'm going to raffle him off." Farmer: "You can't raffle off a dead donkey!" Kenny: "Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he is dead." A month later the farmer met up with Kenny and asked, "What happened with that dead donkey?" Kenny: "I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two dollars a piece and made a profit of $898.00." Farmer: "Didn't anyone complain?" Kenny: "Just the guy who won. So I gave him his two dollars back."

Kenny grew up and eventually became the chairman of Enron.
